Motorrad

Commissioning: To achieve full performance and service life, the battery must be fully charged before installation. Not necessary with Bike Bull GEL and AGM PROfessional.

Banner service tips: Be sure to avoid these 4 deadly sins when handling Bike Bull batteries!

  • NEVER! Do not charge the battery during standstill and rest periods, for example the entire winter! Recharge every 2 months at the latest, ideally using a voltage-controlled charger from the Banner Accucharger series with charge retention function. Ideally combined with the BBC 12 Banner Battery Controller, this allows direct charging of hard-to-reach batteries once mounted.
  • NEVER! Work without pole grease because it is not electrically conductive! It is an anti-corrosion agent to improve the electrical contact between pole and terminal.
  • NEVER! Add acid to conventional wet batteries, this is always done with demineralised water (desalinated or distilled according to VDE 0510).
  • NEVER! Bike Bull AGM/GEL/AGM PRO batteries must not be opened! Measuring the acid density or topping up with demineralised water is not possible or necessary.

1. Bike Bull Classic

Preparation: The degassing opening is closed and must be opened before use. To do this, remove the protective cap or cut off the degassing hose at the end.

Commissioning: To achieve full performance, the battery must be fully charged before installation. Charge according to the operating instructions of the charger or battery for approx. 5 to 10 hours with max. 1/10 of the battery capacity (Ah). The battery capacity can be identified by numbers 2 and 3 of the DIN number on the individual box: If the number is e.g. 509 14, the capacity of the battery is 9 Ah, the charging current is therefore approx. 0.9 A. After charging, check the acid level and top up with demineralised water if necessary.

PS: The screw connections of the battery do not have to be opened during charging.

Please note: Bike Bull cannot be installed in a lateral position!

Maintenance: Never allow the acid level to fall below the minimum mark. Only use demineralised water (desalinated or distilled water according to VDE 0510) for refilling.

Instructions for use. Apart from these handling instructions, the instructions for use provided by the manufacturers of the vehicle and the charger must be strictly followed.

2. Bike Bull AGM

Commissioning: To achieve full performance, the battery must be fully charged before installation. Do not open the stopper strip. Opening destroys the battery! According to the operating instructions of the charger or battery, charge for approx. 5 to 10 hours with max. 1/10 of the battery capacity (Ah). The battery capacity can be identified by numbers 2 and 3 of the DIN number on the individual box: If the number is e.g. 518 21, the capacity of the battery is 18 Ah, the charging current is therefore approx. 1.8 A.

Please note: Bike Bull AGM cannot be installed in a lateral position!

Caution: Never install a maintenance-free battery (AGM, GEL, AGM PRO) in a vehicle without a regulator - the max. charging voltage must not exceed 14.8V!

Instructions for use. Apart from these handling instructions, the instructions for use provided by the manufacturers of the vehicle and the charger must be strictly followed.

3 Bike Bull GEL / Bike Bull AGM PROfessional

Commissioning: The battery is pre-charged and can be installed directly.

Please note: Bike Bull GEL / Bike Bull AGM PROfessional can be installed in a lateral position!

It is best to use voltage-regulated chargers from the Banner Accucharger series. These devices carry out the charging process fully automatically. Depending on the capacity of the battery, you can use the following chargers - 2 A, 3 A or 6 A recovery.

Charging Sportspower batteries – how to do it properly with the Banner Accucharger

Ideally, you should use voltage-regulated chargers from the Banner Accucharger series. These charging devices are fully automatic. Depending on the battery capacity, you can use the following chargers:

  • Batteries <9 Ah - Banner Accucharger 6/12V 2A
  • Batteries 9 - 20 Ah – Banner Accucharger 12V 3A
  • Batteries > 20 Ah – Banner Accucharger 12V 6A Recovery

Battery Controller BBC 12/24

Practical quick connector for batteries, that are very difficult to reach or are installed in a hidden place. The ring lug connector (red positive lug to positive terminal and black negative eyelet to negative terminal) is simply mounted on the battery and and enables a comfortable charging connection without having to touch the battery the battery with the charging clamps every time the battery needs to be recharged.
Eyelet connection M8 (6.7 mm) and cable length 600 mm.

Please observe the safety instructions!

Battery acid is highly corrosive

  • In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor.
  • Acid splashes: Treat with neutralon spray or soapy water, rinse with plenty of water and wipe dry.
  • Keep acid or acid-filled batteries out of the reach of children.

Charging gases are explosive!

  • Avoid ignition, do not smoke, no naked flames, avoid sparking when handling cables and electrical equipment.
  • Before installing or removing the battery, switch off all switchable power consumers to prevent accidental sparking.
  • When disconnecting the connections, first remove the earth cable (connection to the vehicle frame). When connecting, make this connection last (avoid short circuits caused by tools).
  • When charging, first connect the battery to the charger, then switch on the charger.
  • When charging in closed rooms, ensure good ventilation.
