No two tiny houses are the same – each has different electrical loads, usage patterns and requirements. That is why there is no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to the battery system. Instead, a modular system that can adapt to your needs makes sense. How to determine the right number of battery modules

 

The calculation follows three simple steps:

• List all electrical loads: all devices that are regularly used in the tiny house, such as the refrigerator, lighting, water pump, heating controls or home office equipment.

• Note the power (watts) and daily usage time (hours) for each electrical load.

• Calculate the watt-hours per day (Wh = watts × hours) and add them together, then convert the result into ampere-hours: Ah = Wh ÷ 12.8 V.

For this example usage profile, the daily energy requirement is therefore around 82 Ah. A Traction Bull Bloc Lithium 12-100 BL with 100 Ah (1,280 Wh) provides a suitable capacity and additional reserve for fluctuations in consumption. Important: The actual energy requirement can vary significantly depending on the devices, usage time, ambient temperature and individual consumption.

 

From daily energy requirements to the number of modules

 

Instead of choosing between different models, with the Traction Bull Bloc Lithium range you simply combine as many 100 Ah modules as your energy requirements demand. Up to four modules can be connected in series or in parallel:


1 × 100 Ah: basic power supply for lighting, water pumps and small electrical loads


2 × 100 Ah: more energy for comfortable living and longer periods without recharging


3 × 100 Ah: high energy requirements with an inverter and additional electrical loads


4 × 100 Ah: maximum energy independence for off-grid living

Series or parallel: What the difference means for your tiny house

 

When connected in parallel, the voltage remains at 12.8 V and only the capacity increases: two modules connected in parallel provide 200 Ah while remaining at 12.8 V. This is the standard solution when more energy is simply required in an existing 12 V system, as shown in the list above.When connected in series, the voltage is added while the capacity remains at 100 Ah: two modules connected in series provide 25.6 V at 100 Ah. This is useful when larger electrical loads or a 24 V electrical installation require a higher voltage level. Lower currents flow at the higher voltage, allowing thinner cables to be used.
