WHAT IS DECARBONISATION?

CO₂ REDUCTION IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF AN ISSUE.

Decarbonisation is THE key term in the area of environment and sustainability, with the aim of halting global warming and thus climate change.

So what exactly is it?

The term –– means „“ the reduction of carbon. The aim is to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) for the long term. The long-term goal is to create a CO₂-2 free global economy.

The basis for what we do is the Paris Climate Agreement.

This provides a global framework and targets for combating climate change. The intention is to keep the global temperature increase to well below 2 °C and global warming to 1.5 °C through further measures.

CO₂-neutral mobility plays a major role in achieving these goals.

This is one of the reasons why the majority of car manufacturers are focusing on e-mobility. From today's perspective, it represents the optimal path to climate-neutral and clean mobility. The aim of the automotive industry is to massively reduce fuel consumption and reduce CO₂2 emissions by means of start-stop technology and electric cars. All to facilitate the energy transition.

What activities and efforts is Banner Batteries undertaking?

Lead-acid batteries are already a part of e-mobility.

When you think of electric cars, the first thing that comes to mind is the high-voltage drive battery using lithium-ion technology, often with rated voltages from 288 to well over 400 V. The first electric car with an on-board power system of 800 V was the Porsche Taycan (Concept Car Mission E).

People often miss the fact that every electric car is also equipped with a 12 V lead-acid battery without exception. Because, as before, no electric vehicle can do without a lead-acid battery to support and supply the on-board network. In addition to start-ups that are looking toward the future, renowned vehicle manufacturers such as the BMW Group also rely on a lead-acid battery for the power supply of the electrical system. The electrical system of the purely electrically powered BMW i3, for example, is stabilised with a Banner lead-acid battery, which supplies the 12 V consumers in the car.

The Banner brand is making a significant contribution to climate-neutral and clean mobility with the further optimisation of all Running Bull batteries, and enormous investments in the areas of environment and sustainability.

What exactly is carbon?

Carbon is a chemical element that occurs in nature in pure form (diamond, graphite) or in compounds such as carbonates, carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide (CO₂2), crude oil, natural gas and coal. Carbon is able to form complex molecules and forms the basis of all life on earth.
